Unlike many other investment companies which mostly involve traditional private equity and public investors, RHL ventures is a private investment formed by 3 millennial co-founders. Their philosophy is to circumvent the conflict of interest in the ownership of capital as well as not to be restricted to short term market performance benchmarks. We are humbled to have participated in designing and building their workplace located at Bangsar South. Upon entering is a shoe shelf on the right, topped with an attached light cushion allowing workers to put on and remove shoes easily.

 

 

 

A calm and refined atmosphere is created through material choice which includes timber, glass, concrete, pearl and mesh. The first glass door leads us to their meeting room. The tables exhibited are clad in dark veneer, with blackened steel supports and stoppable breaks to scaffold tables. Several tables are joined together to form a communal meeting table; conversely, the tables are also detachable when needed. Distinctive by its look, the chairs used are one of our best-seller, Convert, from our mesh chair series. The meeting room and executive room is separated by a glass partition. When ideas emerge, workers can write on the glass walls to share their ideas.

 

 

Next to the meeting room is the executive room, which also uses our notorious mesh chair and extremely popular height-adjustable table. The utilitarian table plays an increasingly important role in contemporary office planning, ergonomic performance, offering flexibility as it allows users the freedom to sit or stand throughout the day.

 

 

 

 

 

Out of the glass rooms, there is an array of several portable tables covered in timber surface, each one being complemented by Prestige chairs from our mesh chair series, filling the center void of the office.

Now, you will notice the apparent concrete flooring, neutral and simple yet also durable, thus complementing the colors of the workplace. Behind the tables displayed a customized built-in cupboard coated in pearl white material. Coming in a variation of cubicle sizes, it is meant for storing work relevant documents or any personal possessions. Reports and belongings will be kept safely by the attached key locks. Towards the middle, a void has been created allowing space for a screen to be placed. This allows for future presentations or stocks displays. Alongside it, there is a book shelf filled with finance related publications, granting workers the chance to read and refer to them at any time.

HKC Plaza

A Korea based clinic, HKC plaza is an established clinic which has been providing all kinds of beauty treatments for 11 years. Combining art & science, their goal is to unlock beauty within through providing aesthetic services and consultation.

We took part in the construction and refurbishment of the clinic that is located the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The whole concept is concentrated in giving a warm ambiance, using reflective materials and yellow light to provide a relaxing yet comfortable vibe, to reduce customers’ nervousness.

 

 

Upon entering is the reception desk clad in black reflective material with an intriguing gold lining. A rose gold and silver reflective background brings out the boldness and identity of the signage in gold, complementing the colors of the front desk.

 

 

 

 

Warm timber flooring and under-desk lighting were implemented to set the mood as you enter the clinic. On the left of the entrance is the waiting area, filled with long-back antique looking couches topped on a fuzzy grey floor mat which gives the room a touch of luxury. Industrial-style lamps are placed on both the front desk and tea table for an integrated look.

Behind the couches, are a series of rags and cupboards, displaying products, and making them more accessible to potential customers. On the left of the rags is a hidden division of the cupboard, storing electronics and players. Beneath the rags we find a row of lockable cupboards, where customers can store their valuables securely during their visit to the clinic The light beige mosaic background help adds modernity into the picture.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Across the waiting area we see 2 treatment rooms segregated from the common compound by a sleek sliding door. A step into the first room, shows a treatment couch placed in the center, cabinets and built-in wall cupboards on the side which allow clinicians to assess to their tools and essential apparatus for treatments. Along the cabinet includes a sink to sanitize hands when needed. The second room, displaying the same type of storage cupboards, as well as supplementary advisory space and treatment bed.

 

 

All the cabinets are specially made by our own manufacturer. The colors and styles were picked and designed thoughtfully by us exclusively for HKC Plaza to fit into their theme. More of our furniture collection can be found on www.siton.my.

honestbee Malaysia

honestbee is an Asia online concierge that aims to provide positive social and financial impacts on lives and businesses. Designed to ease grocery shopping for busy or lazy people, as it can be a time-consuming chore for most working adult. Their mission is to deliver the best handpicked product by their fellow employees at the shortest time. Reputable across Asia countries, we are privileged to be working with honestbee, supplying their office furniture in Malaysia.

 

 

As a big community with high number of employees, from the management to deliverers, ergonomics is vital.  We are proud to have selected the most suitable office furniture that fits into the concept of honestbee. The mesh chair series was chosen, Budget, who comes with a range of colours. 5 colours were picked, varies from red, blue, indigo, green to orange. Selection of hues have brightened up the working environment, reinforcing a buoyant atmosphere to keep workers at top performance.

 

 

 

The advantage of the mesh material of our chair is the high level of ventilation and breathability by allowing air flow through the chair while seated. Easing airflow can avoid warmth and discomfort from working away for hours.

 

Long rectangular tables can be easily found in the meeting rooms and communal work spaces, making teamwork seem effortless. The table top is embodied by beech wood to give an elegant and sustainable look, followed by a sleek black metal support. Desk grommets can be found on each table to give convenience in accessing electrical outlets.

 

 

On the side, we find a bar table made from identical materials that was specially customized as the pantry of the office. It acts as a place to gather during office downtimes, or for the occasional quick snack grab. Power outlets can be found around the table as the power source for their laptops or phone while they break away.

We completed the project with a final task, which was to furnish the office sign board. It hangs on the side of the walkway prior to entering the office. A warm mango-coloured background has been chosen, as is it their signature shade yellow, with a small lettered “honestbee” in a black font, and their recognizable cute bee logo aside of the sign board acts as a welcome to anyone entering the office.

Uber Malaysia

Uber Malaysia has been our latest project, designing the entire office to better make use of the space for employees. Known the world over, the Uber experience is reliable, efficient and covers a range of travelling variables from low-cost to premium. These were all facets of the business that needed to be reflected in the finished design of the new Uber Malaysia office space.

Initial consultations with the client produced a brief for a warm ambience and cutting-edge industrial design. We chose to use sleek furniture designs that blended well with the final look from our own manufacturers, which can be found on www.siton.my.

First, we opted for a timeless palette of black and white to reinforce the modernity of the business model which is run entirely via a smartphone app. We decided to add in cosy wooden touches, to add focal points to the room as well as contrast.

Matte black desks and information points were cut with linear textural details, an on-trend feature that brings Uber Malaysia right up-to-date. The main desk, appointed at the back of the office, was clad in beech to keep up the warm tones in the room and reflect the friendly nature of the business. It also differentiated the desk from the back wall, making it immediately apparent on entering the office where to head to first.

For an industrial-meets-modern edge, we polished rough concrete floors into reflective, warmly coloured surfaces that help to bounce light around the space. A black and white modular seating arrangement makes a monochromatic statement in the center of the room. Curvy, modern desk chairs flank long tables in the conference room. A pool table puts employees and visitors alike at ease and provides an activity centerpiece for office downtime.

Cylindrical down lighters in a stylish matte black metal add to the warm ambience and are arrayed in strict lines across the office industrial-style ceiling. Huge open window frames flood the office space with natural light, keeping everything bright and airy. No window treatments were necessary, instead we chose to keep the windows clean and crisply framed by gleaming white walls that further reflect light around the space.

We finished the office off with a funky back-lit ‘Uber’ logo in sleek black, mounted on the wall behind the main desk.

With sleek lines and a minimalist stance, the design came together in just three weeks to reflect an efficient and modern business.

There are several different reasons why this particular project caught my eye, and I’d like to emphasize 
some of its characteristics. There are many things that young business and interior designers can learn

Observant Use of Accents 
If you’re a professional interior designer or an at least enthusiast, you must have encountered the 
problem of proper accenting. It often happens that you find yourself in a difficult situation where it 
seems that you overdo or underdo it. And it’s hard not to cross that thin line and go with just the right 
amount. 
The M&O team boldly used colors that many wouldn’t on this project, which turns out to be a great 
idea. All surfaces in metal or earthy tones were revived with unusual shades of orange, red and blue.

Before flat design became a big thing, offices sort of served as a demonstration of power, and interior
